Giving Back

Sharon Black is a passionate member of the community and strives to give back whenever possible. Through COBSS (the Cental Okanagan Bursary and Scholarship Society), Sharon and her husband Gord contribute to a yearly bursary in honour of their son, the Captain Michael J. Black Memorial Award. In addition, Sharon is particularly concerned about the health and wellbeing of children and her charities of choice are the Children’s Miracle Network and the BC Children’s Hospital.

The Children’s Miracle Network was founded in 1983 and works to generate health care duns and awareness programs for children. Through this nonprofit organization, some 170 hospitals and 17 million children throughout North America are helped each year. RE/MAX became the axclusive real estate sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network in 1992 and in the time since, RE/MAX Associates have raised more than $75 million for this worthy children’s charity.

The BC Children’s Hospital is part of the Children’s Miracle Network and is also a preferred charity of Sharon Black. Sharon works to raise awareness for this incredible hospital, as well as to raise funds that will help get the support and equipment needed to save the lives of children throughout the province.

These are just some of the ways in which Sharon gives back to these children’s organizations.

  • Sharon donates directly to the Children’s Miracle Network with every transaction through the RE/MAX Miracle Home® Program

  • We hold a Function for RE/MAX REALTORS® at all Canadian conferences, where we raise between $5000 and $11,000 in three hours

  • We donate auction items to the CMN Breakfast of Champions including vacation packages and other items for the silent and live auction

  • Sharon Black attends the Children’s Miracle Network Golf Tournament where Sharon sponsors a hole and makes a donation for the auction

  • Sharon has previously headed the Televised Panel for RE/MAX in which we raised over $10,000 in one hour

  • In 2014, Sharon helped raise $9,400 and ran a 5k run for the Children’s Miracle Network

  • Earnings from the Real Estate courses that Sharon teaches are donated to the BC Children’s Hospital in memory of Captain Michael J Black

Each year, Sharon is recognized for support and donations to the BC Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. Please contact Sharon directly if you would like to learn more about these charities and how you can get involved.
